Artist Statement
BURST

My piece BURST is about growth and the movement from darkness into light. At the bottom of the mosaic is a tightly controlled garden with a rigid fence. One flower has forced its way through the fence and other flowers stream from that gap in the fence into a light blue sky. The steady rooted growth of the first flower makes possible the soaring growth of the others, some attempting to break free of the mosaic and frame to float away altogether.
