When I finished Rising, I felt the phoenix rising in the upward movement of the acid green shape. I love the green juxtaposed with the two blues; it evokes memories of my mother, who loved blue and green together. Vibrant shades of turquoise, yellow, red and blue are interspersed in complex layers of precise and loose shapes and expressive mark making.
