Ceramic artist and designer Carla Roth, originally from Canada, lives and works in Palm Springs, California. She studied graphic design, fine arts, and art history at institutions in British Columbia, Mexico City, and Nova Scotia.
Her ceramic work, primarily slab-built, explores the balance between strength and fragility. Each piece holds space quietly, asking for attention at a human scale. Embracing both chaos and pattern, the works are symbolic reflections of the subconscious.
Roth's work explores the quiet architecture of presence — how form can hold space, suggest stillness, and invite attention inward.
Each piece carries a subtle gesture. Rooted in abstraction, the works speak softly of refuge, boundary, and body — offering not narrative, but resonance. Together, they form a kind of sculptural vocabulary for contemplative space — one that’s architectural in feeling, but deeply human in scale and mood.
While the language of architecture is present, these are not monumental structures; their strength lies not in assertion, but in restraint.
Inquiries for private and public commissions welcomed.
