Candice Grant is a Surrey, BC–based contemporary abstract artist whose work captures the landscape through expressive colour, movement, and emotion. Inspired by daily walks and time spent in nature, she draws from shifting skies, quiet fields, and organic forms as a starting point for intuitive exploration.
With a background in graphic design, her paintings reflect a strong sense of composition and visual rhythm. Working in layered acrylics, she transforms observation into atmospheric, gestural compositions that evoke a sense of calm, depth, and presence.
Statement
Color has always been my guide, shaping the way I create and experience the world. Its ability to uplift, transform, and connect sits at the heart of my practice.
My journey began in graphic design, where I developed a strong foundation in composition, rhythm, and balance, but I found my true voice in acrylic painting. I am drawn to acrylics for their versatility how they blend, layer, and build luminous colour, creating depth, texture, and emotion.
Working intuitively, I let feeling guide each brushstroke, building bold, energetic hues that carry a sense of possibility and joy. Each composition becomes a quiet conversation between the work, the viewer, and myself.
I'm inspired by overlooked moments off the beaten path the shifting light, clouds, and interplay of mountains, trees, and flowers which I translate into abstract landscapes. Through my paintings, I invite viewers to slow down, reconnect, and experience the transformative power of colour.
