Since 2013, the work of Portland artist Candace Primack has been collected in Europe, Asia, and throughout North America by private and corporate clients, and is featured in movies and television, commercial advertising, and music videos. Trained in communications and journalism, and with a Masters in Theology from an affiliate of the University of British Columbia, Primack has studied art-making techniques with a variety of working-artist teachers, and through independent learning opportunities.
Statement
I am deeply committed to bringing the mystical elements of our lived, human experience to light, and to making and sharing artworks that create opportunities to feel beauty, harmony, joy, and love — for myself and for my audience
Using materials such as plaster, papers, cold wax, and paint on cradled wood panels, canvas, and paper, I build up the surfaces of my work slowly and with a meditative process informed by my training as a Reiki master and practitioner. Inspired by the natural world and by my own intuitive imagination, I pour, sand, scrape and smooth, adding and subtracting layers of materials, to create the rich and textured surfaces that are present in all of my work.
I am especially inspired by sunrises and sunsets, and my work frequently features abstract references to horizon lines.
From my studio in Portland, Oregon, I work with designers, gallerists, and private clients to install my work in residential and business settings. Studio visits are always welcome.
I look forward to being in touch!
