The view on a sunny summer morning from the Nisqually River looking towards Mt. Rainier. This scene is walking distance from Cougar Rock Campground on the way to Paradise, WA--one of the National Parks most popular place for short hikes and big view rewards! I lead a plein air painting excursion here through Plein Air Washington Artists in 2019, and it was a blast! A lovely couple commissioned a portrait of Mt. Rainier, and they were keen to have the view be a panorama. They chose an equally beautiful scene that was more personal to them, and I was so taken with the idea of a Rainier panorama that I painted this scene as well. This painting is on gallery wrapped stretched linen. The image continues around the 1.5 inch edges, so it has quite an impact in person. It's offered unframed to show off this effect. This work is also notable for having been begun in my home studio, and the first painting finished in my new gallery in North Bend, Wa!
