This painting is part of a collection for a solo exhibition at the Firehouse Art Center in Longmont, CO. The show is titled "The Reckoning" and speaks to the current collective emotion of fear, anger and perseverance.
This work has sewn elements. I have torn apart my paintings for over a decade, keeping pieces that feel precious, while throwing away other portions. I recently learned out to sew and have been stitching work back together. It symbolizes the beauty after destruction and the ability to bring disparate things together to create something brand new.
