Statement
When I paint, I capture the essence of deeply held emotions, memories and ethereal realities using hyper-sensory cues, to transfer them to the canvas as a way of connecting with others. I paint these soulful impressions, these intense emotions that I feel within and all around me. They are expressed as a color language which is uniquely mine and often results in an explosion of color. Words that are often left unsaid or cannot describe the feeling are more easily expressed though my art. By using my intuition, I discover the focus of my inspiration. This is a spontaneous, fluid process and as a result, for the most part, my subject matter is random. Nothing is forced, it is pure creativity.
Art allows both the artist and the observer to feel and express emotions that may have otherwise been stifled. It is both a luxury and luxurious as it enhances our happiness, our mental wellbeing as well as the aesthetics of our living spaces. It's my belief that everyone deserves the luxury of art in their life. Art is a necessity.
While I am not influenced by any particular artist, I am naturally drawn to abstract expressionism, post-impressionism, graffiti and street art and I admire the works of Jackson Pollock. My style is ever evolving as an unstructured, abstract expressionism mixed with a splash of the urban. One of my largest projects is a body of work inspired by my studies in Psychological Science and Neuroscience, the Brain Series.
Acrylics on canvas are my preference. I prefer an impasto technique, using palette knives, brushes, various tools and vivid colors that playfully move and merge through multiple layers of heavily textured paint. Often the process of creating is technically challenging as I explore new ways of mixing color and creating textural effects. The paintings have a life of their own, inviting the viewer's senses of sight and touch.
My paintings are intended to evoke positive emotions, inspire, provoke new perspectives, profound thought and genuine conversation. I am continually working toward developing myself as an art professional and recently completed new art collections. My artwork is hand-painted and non AI generated.
