Brian Huntress
Grandmother with Grandson by Brian Huntress Image: The young boy runs, laughs, and plays, fascinated by his imagination and all of the strange things he dreams up. He talks about monsters, mummies, spiders, and snakes. He talks about vampires, pirate ships, skeletons, and devils. He's excited by all of this and more. He tells it all to his Grandmother who listens with patience, excitement, and kindness. She doesn't make the young boy feel weird or ignored. She listens, laughs, and loves him.

Unlike other the paintings, this piece is painted in gouache and took two years to complete. Its also directly inspired by my own experience with my Grandmother. As a child, both of my parents had to work full time but we were fortunate enough to have my Grandmother available to watch me and my siblings whenever my parents needed it. This painting is an homage and an expression of gratitude to my Grandmother and all of my other family members who helped take care of me and my siblings growing up. Most of all to my Grandmother for always allowing my imagination to run wild.
