MessageStatement
Brian Huntress (b. 1995) is a visual artist based out of Boston, Massachusetts serving private collectors and galleries across the country. Since 2021, Huntress, who identifies as non binary, has gained over 100,000 followers on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube by posting time lapse videos of his mixed media styled art making process with educational voice over commentary. The time lapse voice-over project has gained international recognition reaching millions of views and to much critical acclaim. Often controversial, Huntress’ voice over commentary often features perspectives not commonly found in most traditional art spaces.
On top of that, Huntress is also well known for their instantly recognizable oil painting technique. Taking inspiration from the German Expressionists, the Surrealists, and the Metaphysical movement, Huntress has spent years cultivating a unique style that is both brand new and conjures a sense of haunting familiarity. Despite rejecting the “influencer culture” of todays art world, Huntress has cultivated a dedicated, online fanbase for his work.
Outside of the studio, Huntress is the co host and co founder of the Boston Art Podcast, an independent documentary project spotlighting artists and creators in Greater Boston. Huntress has produced and hosted over 100 episodes of the show alongside artist Theodora Earthwurms. A prolific audio engineer, Huntress has spent countless hours recording, interviewing, and documenting cutting edge artists & creators found everywhere from far flung, unknown parts of the Bay State, to the hallowed halls of America’s greatest art institutions like the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Huntress has also published a complete 78 card tarot deck, released 8 studio albums of original folk punk music, published a book of collaborative drawings with artist Theodora Earthwurms, and has toured extensively across the continental United States promoting his art, music, and multi media creations. He has been written up in WBUR, The Boston Globe, Boston Art Review, and more.
