These paintings are created through a process that involves paying close attention to water tension. In this particular painting the green forms were created by first brushing clear water over the yupo, but not too much. Then I dropped a series of green paint into that water running in a straight line. Then I dropped less intense dots of paint along the top and bottom of that line. The paint spreads through the water “bumping” up against the other dots. They are kind of like cells, the edges of the dispersing paint dots push against each other creating the patterns you see.
