As a child, I always loved to draw but I didn't know God had given me the gift to paint until I was 58 years old. My Mother was an artist and my sister is an art teacher. I was always artistic but I never believed I had the patience to paint. Now I don't have the patience for anything else. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's before I realized that I was interested in learning to paint so I was not able to benefit from her guidance. An eight year old artist in England started taking the art world by storm in 2010 as ‘The New Monet.’ He was eight and I was 58 and it was past time to get started. I signed up for classes immediately and have been painting constantly ever since.
Statement
Painting has changed my life. I started painting in 2010 and rarely go three days without a brush in my hand. I’m a very realistic painter. I love to paint birds, landscapes, people, animals, still life; it doesn’t matter what I’m painting as long as I’m painting. I want the subject of my paintings to be recognizable, to bring a smile or a memory to the viewer. I want to make people feel as good when they look at my work as painting it made me feel! I don’t make statements with my art. I try to make smiles and recreate happy memories of a time gone by. It’s all about fun and feeling good!
