Breanna Cole is a Cincinnati-based multidisciplinary artist whose work spans illustration, nature-inspired jewelry-making, and digital media. Blending classical elegance with contemporary expression, her art explores themes of identity, nature, and the connection between creativity, memory, and faith. She approaches each piece with intentional craftsmanship and a deep curiosity about how organic materials can tell human stories.
From a young age, art became Breanna’s way of understanding the world. Countless hours spent drawing the human figure, studying botanical forms, and exploring anatomical illustrations shaped the foundation of her creative voice. Her admiration for the Italian Renaissance, especially the work of Leonardo da Vinci, deepened her fascination with the intersections of art, science, and nature. His bridging of anatomy and botany continues to influence her approach, inspiring her ongoing study of harmony between humanity and the natural world.
This curiosity comes to life in Renaissance in Bloom, a body of work that pairs large-scale illustrations with preserved botanical jewelry made from real flowers, leaves, and organic elements. Each piece serves as both adornment and archive, merging illustration and wearable art to explore the shared fragility, resilience, and beauty found in both people and plants. Grounded in faith and sustainability, Breanna transforms natural materials into heirloom-quality creations that honor God’s design and the intricacy of the natural world.
Beyond her studio practice, Breanna is dedicated to building inclusive and accessible creative spaces. As the founder of her own LLC and an active participant in community arts programs, she creates opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds to engage with the arts. Through teaching, program coordination, and collaboration, she encourages others to connect with craft, story, and presence.
Renaissance in Bloom reflects Breanna’s mission to expand the classical narrative by centering Black, Brown, and Asian figures who have often been excluded from classical imagery. The exhibition celebrates authenticity, representation, and renewal through a different lens. Whether displayed on paper or worn on the body, her work invites reflection and encourages viewers to find the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Statement
As a Cincinnati-based artist, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Miami University (2020) and a Graphic Design Certification from the New York Institute of Art + Design (2022). My practice blends fine art and nature-inspired jewelry-making, reflecting a commitment to continual exploration and authentic craftsmanship.
Through Renaissance in Bloom, I reclaim classical traditions to center underrepresented figures, restoring visibility where it has been historically denied, while pairing visual art with wearable botanical forms. Guided by faith and sustainable practices, I preserve and transform flowers, leaves, and organic elements of nature into creations that honor God's design and the artistry of human hands.
Inspired by the natural world, my work invites reflection and embodies the extraordinary within the ordinary. Each piece, whether on paper or worn, offers a meditation on the narrative, celebrating authenticity, enduring beauty, and the luxury of handcrafted artistry.
