My father designed and built boats and I was often enlisted to help him. As a kid, I was small enough to fit under the floorboards to hold wrenches or find dropped screws.
On the Georgian Bay trips we'd boat out to the Red Rock Islands, which were made of sparkly pink quartz, and swim in the cold, clear water.
