*Beneath the Waves* is a 10 by 10 inch painting on cradled birch panel combines acrylic, gold leaf, and a glossy resin finish. The work features vibrant turquoise and blue tones with swirling white patterns that evoke the feeling of water moving beneath the surface. Scattered flecks of gold leaf add a subtle glow, bringing both contrast and depth to the composition. As a former scuba diver, this piece is a reflection of my experience underwater—capturing the fluid, ever-changing nature of that environment with an abstract, almost otherworldly approach. The addition of resin seals the layers and enhances the luminous quality, making the colors and textures come alive.
