Statement
I love color and the experimentation afforded by working in an abstract manner. The process of expressing myself creatively through color and movement on a painting becomes part of my spiritual practice. Incorporating texture using a variety of tools is part of my proces. Working intuitively, I pour, scrape, and glaze pigment until I feel the work is complete. In this way, the painting is more about my own interpretation of water and earth, and the effects of light. I have traveled extensively around the world including Europe, China Japan, and the South Pacific; and I have lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, Colorado, and Georgia. Just the differences in the light from one country or location to another provide inspiration and new perspectives .I feel that artists embody all of their influences and all of my travels have definitely influenced my work.
I currently live and work in the Atlanta area and sometimes aboard a trawler which my husband and I have cruised from Canada to Texas. We have spent time in the subtropics and I have taken a studio in different cities along the way. My work is held in private and corporate collections in the US, England, China, and Taiwan. I am currently represented by Eaton Fine Art in Austin, TX and my work can be seen at Little Tree Studios, Avondale Estates, GA.
For me there is so much joy in the process of creation and it is that joy I want to share with the viewer.
