Jonathan Grauel is a Charlotte based artist who has gained international and regional recognition. Grauel's life has been shaped by his desire to create. He transforms that need into unique visual narratives. Jonathan orchestrates energetic lines, whimsical shapes, and vivid colors into surreal spaces for the eye to journey. Focusing on the places “we" travel, Jonathan portrays not just physical locations, like the coffee shops, pubs and parks he frequents, but also constructs villages from mental, emotional, and spiritual territories. Collaborations with other artists play a major role in Grauel’s own artistic maturation. Using finger or brush, on iPad or traditional media, in two dimensions or three, Grauel’s work is a response to his surroundings and the relationships they contain.
