This scene in the Davis Mountains outside of Alpine, Texas, captured my imagination in 2002, the year my father died. I wanted to paint it but was never satisfied with the outcome so I finally decided I needed to paint it several different ways. This one (No. 2) expanded on the basic structures of the rocks and hills.
