Fort Worth, Texas
I am an artist living and working in Fort Worth, Texas. I consider myself a colorist, mixing any color I need from 5 primaries.
MessageI grew up in Texas and California during the 1950’s and 1960’s. My father instilled in me a love of travel, nature, and our State and National Parks. I am most at home in nature and find a connection there with the power of creation that makes my life meaningful.
Statement
I am a self-directed artist and colorist living and working in Fort Worth, Texas. My work is a reflection of my environment and its impact on me. My artistic mission is to evoke a love of nature by revealing its spirituality. Tree bark may be a metaphor for the brokenness and scarring left by childhood sexual abuse, an unfortunate period of my personal history. Landscapes of State and National Parks may be monuments to the monuments themselves, a historical and spiritual record of my travels. My process includes observation of a subject or scene, focusing on the colors and lines. The most interesting areas become a composition often expanded or exaggerated from the original. Technically, I use a palette of 5 primary colors, plus black and white, mixing whatever color I need as I was taught to do over a period of five years of private lessons.
