Spurred Butterfly Pea — painted from a reference photo of the native Alabama wildflower taken near my parents’ home. Because this perennial pops up there every year, and we see it on our walks, it always reminds me of my parents and has sentimental value. It’s a very aggressive vine that can grow up to twelve feet. It serves as a host plant for the long-tailed skipper and northern cloudywing butterflies, is pollinated by bees, and also provides food for turtles, deer, quail, and birds. Amazing! Painted on standard canvas, ready to frame.
