Rose Pink (Sabatia angularis), painted from reference photos of this native Alabama wildflower. Another native plant enthusiast permitted me to take photos at their home, and I captured this image during our walk together. The plant is an annual or biennial, completing its life cycle in two growing seasons, producing foliage the first year and blooming and self-seeding the second. Its star-shaped pink flowers with bright yellow centers are a striking sight. Although Rose Pink prefers moist soil, it’s adaptable and can grow well in a range of soil and light conditions. Their adaptability makes them a great choice for home gardens, but they should never be dug up from wild locations. Collect seeds or purchase plants from a native nursery instead. Painted with professional artist-quality acrylics on a 16x16 round canvas, the piece is varnished for protection and comes ready to hang.
