After decades of working in the world of publication design, digital imaging, commercial art, and college-level teaching, it became time to return to the beginnings and explore the basic aspects of traditional relief printing, the effect of high contrast imagery, and the ancient art of hand-cut material for producing multiple impressions. Moving from the familiar and comfortable arena of detailed pen-and ink illustrations to the less precise, and often more challenging movement of knives gouging linoleum proved to be quite an exercise in tedium and compromises, while still focused on producing something expressive and worthy. Intaglio, relief, monoprint, and monotype are the current focus of my fine art explorations. These works provide a glimpse into a creative and technical process that can be interesting and rewarding on many levels. Many of my pieces enjoy life in private collections. The images on this website also include illustrations and serigraphs to round out the collection and breadth of my explorations. I am using Artwork Archive mostly as a warehouse and catalog for some of my fine art pieces. If you are interested in any of these items, or in commercial design ventures creating traditional print or digital publications, please contact me via email at [email protected].
