This painting of Lake Five was painted en plein air from the shore line of the lake. I was participating in the Plein Air Glacier 2020 event through the Hockaday Museum in Kalispell, MT and painted several pieces in preparation for their auction and sale.
We arrived in Columbia Falls to begin the quest of painting the Glacier Park area. Being unfamiliar with Columbia Falls, I asked the motel owner if he could recommend any pretty spots to paint nearby. He began to share all sorts of local only spots and then drew me a map. The trek through the trees and back roads were worth it, it was gorgeous!
These paint out expeditions are always fun and I just had to include the map and arachnid intruder on my palette to tell the whole story.
Oil on linen panel, 10"x8". UNFRAMED.
