La Casa Cordova is the oldest adobe house in Tucson, AZ, built before the Gadsen Purchase of 1854. It has been preserved under the National Historic Register of Historic Places, and now part of the Tucson Museum of Art Historic Block. This humble adobe building is the anchor of the historic Barrio district, a treasure trove for artists and photographers.
I first painted this building en plein air on a slightly larger size. As the sun moved the canale shadows longer across the building, I found the intersecting geometry of shadow and historic line meriting another painting of this old home.
