ALBUM- CHILDREN
In Album Children, Colombian born artist Beatriz Mejia-Krumbein, explores the politics of family and parenthood in her work. She uses a gigantic pacifier as a bookmarker to symbolize the way in which children are kept quite and entertained for the sake of adults.
Drawings of newborn babies on the cover of this altered interior designer’s fabrics sampler album may mislead the casual viewer. This is a powerful statement against child neglect, abuse and the practice of turning adoption into a lucrative business.
