Margaret Hawkins
Margaret Hawkins was, for over 30 years, a professional photographer and served clients in southeast Louisiana, as well as writing feature stories. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a degree in journalism, was an editorial assistant for "The Thoroughbred Record" magazine in Lexington, KY; News Bureau Chief at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
While working for the "Ruston (LA) Daily Leader", she received photography awards and was named one of the top four women journalists in Louisiana by the Louisiana Presswomen's Association.
She has studied with many notable photographers and artists (including Fonville Winans) and is 'definitely retired'. Ms. Hawkins has adapted her previous photography studio to "just art", and lives with her husband of over 51 years in Ponchatoula.
Margaret is an East Baton Rouge Master Gardener (2012) and has served on its Board of Directors, as well as being on the boards of the Independence Botanical Gardens, and Friends of Burden Gardens.
