Artist: Libby Falk Jones
Libby Falk Jones grew up in south Baton Rouge, graduating from Southdowns Elementary, Glasgow Junior High, and Robert E. Lee High Schools. With her parents, community leader Myron Falk and journalist Roberta Gilkison Falk, she learned to appreciate the natural and human world. Visiting family and friends in Louisiana over the years, she has relished spending time outside with her camera, especially at the Baton Rouge Lakes, on Blood River, and at Grand Isle.
Professor of English Emerita at Berea College in Kentucky, she has studied, taught, and practiced contemplative writing and photography for more than two decades. Her photographs are part of the art as healing collections at BRGH and at several Kentucky hospitals. A short video of her 2020-22 solo show, “Begin Beneath Your Feet: A Journey Through Four Lands (India, Japan, Iceland, and Ireland),” is available on her website, www.libbyfalkjones.com. She is a member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen and Lexington Camera Club.
