I recently started painting again after many years. It was something I enjoyed in school. Anne Jarrett was brought to us by Arts in Medicine because she was working on projects while in school. She knew the staff in ICU could benefit from creating art and inspired me to try painting again. These are my first two painting in many years.
Blue Heron – Being in COVID ICU, and just ICU in general, the past 18 months have been stressful, so I do what I can to relax. Walking in my neighborhood around the ponds helps a lot. I kept seeing a beautiful blue heron and hoped to capture some of its beauty. I wanted to try different techniques so used cold wax and mica powders and coated with a resin.
Gilded Tongue – So much was being said on news and in papers, but I still felt like it was just words. And again, I wanted to try different techniques and used gilding papers, acrylic paints, newspaper, and resin.
