Biography
Dana Mosby was born and reared in Columbus, Mississippi, but now considers herself a naturalized Louisianan. As a high school student Dana enjoyed art classes, creative writing, and theater. She earned a BFA from Mississippi University for Women, became certified to teach art, and obtained her MS from Louisiana State University.
Although Dana was an art maior and teacher, she did not become serious about her own art until her thirties. Her first medium was watercolor, but her work took a much different direction after being introduced to oils. It was then that she developed a love of plein air painting.
Dana participated in many art workshops and practiced what she learned, developing confidence and her personal style. Since retiring from teaching art for thirty-six years in public schools, she spends time working in her studio, teaching, and painting landscapes of the area with different groups of plein air painters.
Dana lives in Prairieville, Louisiana with her husband and three very spoiled cats. She is a member of Associated Women in the Arts, Art Guild of Louisiana, New Orleans Art Association, and the Degas Pastel Society. Dana shows in local and regional exhibits and continues to teach private lessons.
