silk aquatint and caran d'ache on two plates, unique image on Rives BFK paper
Printed at Kathy Caraccio Studio, NYC 2004
As part of the professional development grant, I examined the oldest dresses in the WV cultural center collection, historical archives. The tiny dresses from the 1700's struck me as impossible to wear with the constrictive waists and profiles. I wondered who these women were and what their lives were like, certainly they didn't have much of a voice, and so I depicted them without heads.
