The poet Hafiz wrote, “Be kind to your sleeping heart. Take it out into the vast fields of Light
and let it breathe.”
This is what art feels like to me. To see it and to make it are intensely satisfying experiences.
I came to art later in life, studying in 2010 at the Denver Art Student League, taking courses in composition, drawing, oil and acrylic painting, encaustic, oil pastel and collage.
In 2012 I joined the community of artists at the Boardinghouse Studios and Gallery in Denver, participating in their twice-yearly Open Studios events. (It was here that I learned that white wine is a safer option for open houses…) In 2013, when I started working with felt and other mediums I moved to a home studio.
In addition to paintings, I design mixed media greeting cards and am represented by Juniper Sky Gallery in Ivins, Utah. I offer classes periodically, so please contact me if you'd like to expand your creativity, have some fun, and make something others will enjoy.
Memberships include the Art Student League of Denver, the Surface Design Association and the International Encaustic Association.
Although I’m from Maine originally, I live in Denver with my husband and cat after having lived throughout the U.S. and overseas courtesy of the Air Force. I went to high school and college in Colorado, and spent 10 years in Seattle. In 2005 I cajoled my husband into returning to Colorado where the sun shines.
