Barbara Mosher is a Seattle and Whidbey Island–based abstract artist known for her expressive use of color and layered storytelling. With more than forty years of creative practice and entrepreneurial experience, her work explores emotion, intuition, and the quiet power of resilience.Trained in art and education, Barbara’s paintings reveal an intuitive dialogue between chaos and calm—echoes of the sea, shifting light, and inner landscapes of transformation. Statement
My work begins where words fall short. Each painting is a conversation between color, gesture, and the unseen stories that live beneath the surface. I approach the canvas as both a meditation and an exploration—layering paint, texture, and intuition until emotion takes form.
I am fascinated by the tension between freedom and form, movement and stillness. These abstractions are not depictions of place, but echoes of experience—what light feels like after a storm, or how memory shimmers just before it fades.
Ultimately, I paint to invite connection. To remind us that beauty and truth coexist in the imperfect, the layered, and the deeply human.
