As you know, most of my paintings start with a photo. What spoke to me in this one was the cast shadow around the vase and the abundance of colors in the flowers. As I continued to study what was here, I could imagine the home that surrounds this window ledge (perhaps an old farm house?) and even the people who live in it. I literally escaped into the scene as I painted!
For a bit of background on the photo, I am a member of a Facebook group where members post and share photos for artists to use as reference for paintings. I saved this particular photo two years ago, but, unfortunately, the group posts from that long ago are no longer available. Hence, I am unable to tell you where the photo was taken. I would still like to acknowledge the person who photographed this lovely scene, and express my thanks for granting the rights to artists to use the photo as reference. I was inspired and awed and loved every minute dedicated to painting this one!
To my Collectors and Followers, I can only hope that one day one of my paintings will speak to in the same way this photo spoke to me. What more could we ask of the art in our lives?!
