1 - Transformations
The work continue a visual investigation, an ongoing inquiry into "the way things work", filtered through my eyes, mind and subconscious.
2 - A Likely Story
This series continues familiar themes while introducing a new palette of blues, greens and golds suggestive of sky and water. Within these mysterious spaces, forms and turbulent marks approach and recede, leaving echoes in their wake. Animated organic forms - resembling flying or floating creatures or even drones - appear as beneficent visitors, at times suggesting Dei Ex Machina.
3 - Tangled Mapping /Mindscapes
The Tangled Mapping paintings are complex but contemplative, chaotic but orderly, light and airy though layered. The images bring to mind aerial, city or transit maps. They can also be seen as tangled thoughts, the brain's mysterious circuitry, or the skeleton/internal forms of some forgotten species. The process is intuitive and thoughtful, combining a zen approach with a studied sense of composition and color. They can be calming or exciting, depending on the projection of the viewer.
4 - Mutants and Oddities
These small paintings evolved from the Tiny Universes series. They might depict genetic experiments gone wrong, or viruses, or....perhaps alien roadkill?? (Please know that the backgrounds are actually white, like Mutant 12. )
4 - Tiny Universes
The Tiny Universes series are acrylic and ink on Yupo (synthetic “paper” made of polypropylene). They depict small moments in time with playful organic forms and dynamic lines, often in conflict with each other, or having a conversation. Each painting hints at a narrative based on the interaction of energy, ideas, matter, memories and other elements.
5 - A Hidden Order
The work is a visual investigation, a continual inquiry into the way things work, filtered through my eyes, mind and subconscious. In all order, there is disorder.
6 - The Space Between
These paintings are oil on panel and appear, for the most part, to be without imagery. While there are many marks and gestures beneath the surface, the finished paintings emphasize what is no longer there...AKA the space between.
7 - The Dark
For this series, I worked primarily in black, grey, neutrals and white. These paintings delve deep into the corners of my subconscious to expose The Dark.
8 - Inside Out
A visitor to my studio looked at this work and said "These paintings are your grid work turned inside out!" My signs and icons escaped from the grid and began to break apart. Life forms are being created and mutated, some receding, some on the surface, with remnants of matter beneath.
9 - Other Available Work
These are paintings from older bodies of work, including "Balance" and "The Sum of the Parts". Universal and personal icons along with seemingly unrelated random objects exist together in a grid or segmented space, creating a new order that is both harmonious and dissonant.
