I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design and I have studied at The Art Students League, SUNY Purchase, Katonah Art School, as well as studying with Daniel Greene and Wende Caporale and Gail Sibley. During COVID I found some great online drawing groups and they have become part of my weekly routine, always a new pose, and new model and it allows me to connect with many artists. I especially love drawing with the New Orleans Drawing Group,(NODG) great models and wonderful poses.
Statement
My work is deeply influenced by my personal experiences and emotions. Each piece reflects my inner world, conveying my mood, my thoughts, and my feelings. I work in pastels, oils, watercolor, and gelli art. My work is mostly figurative, gelli art and collage help with more abstract pieces. I am always learning and I work hard not to be outcome-based, as it limits me.
I strive to capture the essence of my subjects, whether it be a landscape, a still life, or a portrait. I use a variety of techniques, including layering, blending, crosshatching, and mark-making to create rich, vibrant textures and depth.
As a painter, my work is inspired by the play of light and shadow and the subtle nuances of color. My graphic design background helps me uniquely see the world.
I love the art experience; it is how I express myself. I believe that art has the power to transport us, inspire us, and awaken both the artist and the viewer to the beauty of the world around us.
