The Crooked Road Music Trail is a 330-mile driving trail through the mountains of Southwest Virginia and parts of West Virginia and was created to highlight the heritage music of Appalachia. On a memorable camping trip a few years ago, we drove the whole trail, stopping in small towns each evening to listen to "jams" of bluegrass and early folk music played in community halls, town squares, and local churches. This meadow is a stop that we took for lunch along the trail. It is a serene spot where we could immerse ourselves in the tranquility of the Appalachian wilderness.
