Statement
My art honors the grace of botanical forms. Gesture, line and selective erasure translate physical movements at the easel into the essence of flora. Deep black and velvety charcoal is joy to me and capturing images of plants with their organic presence provides context. I use various dry media as well as watercolor and acrylic paint on canvas, paper, and panel...often stitching or collaging for build layers. The collaborative process motivates me, and I believe collaborative art builds community. Translating ideas into the visual language of a painting creates a common ground and produces work that strengthens relationships. The artwork becomes a cairn for moments that make us who we are. My work presents a different view of familiar images I invite you to interact with the simple details and color harmonies of Creation.
