Born in 1945 in the Sagaing Hills near Mandalay, Sein Myint is a celebrated figure in Myanmar’s art scene, known for his dedication to preserving and revitalizing traditional art forms. He studied in Mandalay Arts and Science University, where he majored in Myanmar language and literature, Sein Myint apprenticed under notable artists such as Paw Oo Thet, U Win Pe, and U Lu Tin, as well as master craftsmen U Aye Myint and U Win Maung (Tampawadi).
Throughout his career, Sein Myint has gained international recognition, including winning the 1987 UNICEF Painting Competition and having his tapestry displayed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. His groundbreaking *Nats Series* reflects his extensive research into Myanmar’s spiritual traditions, capturing the essence of nats through bold colors and meticulous compositions. Praised for his unique style and ability to connect with audiences, Sein Myint’s work remains a cornerstone of Myanmar’s artistic heritage.
