  • Artist: Lun Kyaw Yee

Lun Kyaw Yee (born 1974) is a contemporary Burmese artist known for her oil and watercolor compositions. She holds a diploma in nursing but chose a path in art, studying under her father-in-law, the famed impressionist painter U Lun Gywe. Her work has appeared in numerous solo and group shows across Yangon and Mandalay since the early 2000s.
Lun Kyaw Yee’s paintings reflect a delicate sense of colour and form, drawing on the impressionist legacy of her mentor but channeling a more intimate and quiet energy. She explores everyday scenes and subtle human moments with an emphasis on mood and light, often favouring softer palettes and gentle brushwork.
As someone bridging the rich tradition of Burmese impressionism with a younger generation’s sensibility, Lun Kyaw Yee is part of the lineage that ensures Myanmar’s artistic heritage continues to evolve—rooted in tradition, yet open to contemporary expression.
