Artist: MPP Yei Myint (b. 1953) (Myanmar, b. 1953)
M.P.P Yei Myint was born in 1953 in Myin Gyan, Myanmar and grew up in his home-town. In 1970, he went the Mandalay Art and Sculpture School for learning art and studied some concepts of modern painting from artist U Win Pe.
Around 1974, he painted modern paintings while living with his mentor, Sayar U Win Pe. Simultaneously he was attracted to traditional outline of ancient Burmese wall paintings. He used to practice the wall paintings of the temples and pagodas in Sagaing, Inwa and Bagan.
In 1984, he participated in the "Rectangular Lantern" art exhibition, which was jointly exhibited by artists from Yangon and Mandalay. He was also a member of the Inya Art Gallery opened in 1989. He used pointillism (painting with dots) in 1994 to paint "Erotic" paintings.
He has participated in group exhibitions not only held locally in Yangon and Mandalay but also held internationally in Singapore, Germany, Finland, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and South Korea. His artworks have been collected and exhibited in Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (Fukuoka, Japan), National Art Gallery (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and National Gallery (Singapore).
