Statement
Flowers are my language.
Through collage, photography, mixed media, and installation, I create visual narratives that explore memory, healing, transformation, and the emotional landscapes we carry within us. I often think of my work as gardens of stories—places where personal experiences, collective histories, and imagined worlds can bloom together.
I am particularly interested in the symbolism of flowers and the ways they communicate ideas that words sometimes cannot. Roses speak of love and loss. Forget-me-nots preserve memory. Dandelions embody resilience. These recurring symbols allow me to build layered works that invite viewers to discover meaning through both image and metaphor.
My practice frequently centers Black women, celebrating their beauty, complexity, vulnerability, and strength. Through collage, I weave together photographs, textures, historical references, and botanical elements to create dreamlike spaces that honor both personal and collective narratives.
Whether working on a small collage, a large-scale mural, or an immersive installation, I aim to create work that encourages reflection, connection, and transformation. I want viewers to feel as though they have stepped into a living garden—one where memory, healing, and possibility continue to grow.
"Through flowers, photographs, and layered narratives, I create visual gardens where memory, healing, and transformation bloom."
