Louisiana Still Life was started January 1st 2004 20 months before Katrina, at the time I did not know that this image would reflect real life later on. After the storm, the piece survived but it was 85% complete, when people saw me finishing the piece their reactions changed and they wanted to know how I came up with the idea. I told them that I did’nt know how I came up with the idea but I tapped into the psychic vibrations of the city and this is what creatively came through my subconscious. My Grandmother used to bead bottles in her 7th Ward home and organic studio so this was first in a bottle series tribute to her and our multi generational art tradition.
