“Exertion” focuses on the mental and physical support of Americans through hands of togetherness. I believe that we can become whole, despite race or age for the sake of humanity. The hands in my piece symbolize an act of unity, similarly to how hands grasp tightly to one another. Both of the perspectives of those that are youthful and elderly lead to greater paths of guidance. From one person to another, love is shown by touch during difficult times. I believe that the true source of power in America is through the motion of hands instead of words.
