"Youth is purity. The classic characters are the reminder. The sentimental memories grounded in idealism that ,as we age, become distorted. In life, we are inevitably exposed to varying degrees of trauma, loss and heartbreak. These images are the representation of trying to remember the happiness and purities through the veil of acquired suffering. We recognize the images, the feelings. The characters are there. Just different. Never quite the same as we remembered."
Christopher Babb (b. 1980) is a painter based in Dallas, Texas. He studied at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts, where he earned his BFA in 2003. His work has been exhibited in several galleries and is held in private collections internationally and across the United States.
Babb draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, continually challenging himself to change as an artist. His creative process is driven by exploration and growth, resulting in a dynamic body of work that shifts fluidly between degrees of figurative works and abstraction.
