Excerpt from artist’s Impact Statement: "To show the remarkable achievement of Helen Taussig, I created an artwork that symbolizes one of the many young patients of hers. The infant is being handled by the persistent hands of Taussig, with a stethoscope lying on their chest, showing the cardiologic aspect of Helen’s work. To emphasize the importance of her studies, I chose to place color on the chest of the baby, accentuating the region and importance of the heart."
