From the Eastern Wei period (534-549 A.D.). This is a very special piece as very rarely the color pigments are so well preserved.
Eastern Wei falls within a period of history which the Chinese refers to as the Six Dynasties/Northern and Southern Dynasties right after the Three Kingdoms period. China was occupied by different nomadic groups and all of them tried to unify China but did not succeed until the Sui period (581-618 A.D.) It was during this period, stirrups were invented. Since this period lasts for only a short time in Chinese history, archaeological items from this period became very collectable as they seldom appear in the market compared to archaeological items of Han or Tang Dynasty.
