Beautifully evocative image of a hatmaker's store in Cochabamba, central Bolivia. Introduced by the Spanish, the Central American sombrero has evolved into a distictive taller style.
The glorious textures of the adobe emphasise the startling white smoothness of the hats, whilst the vintage street number "382" in the upper right sits alongside the tattered remains of an earlier street decoration.
This genuine vintage photogravure was printed in 1956 and has the warm tones and fantastic tonal range of a platinum print. A 26 x 22 cm print, archivally mounted on 100% acid-free board and in a 11"x14" black frame.
