William Claxton (1927-2008) was celebrated as the greatest photographer of the jazz scene in the 1950s and ‘60s. Born into a musical family in Southern California he took up photography in his teens and quickly built a reputation in the tight-knit world of jazz. His images soon appeared on album covers for labels all over the world and he won multiple awards. His photographs are in the permanent collections of galleries and collections globally.
