Artist: Long Chin-san (Chinese, 1892-1995)
Long Chin-san (Lang Jingshan) was a pioneering Chinese photographer and photojournalist, widely regarded as the "Father of Asian Photography." Born in Jiangsu province, he blended Western photographic techniques with traditional Chinese painting aesthetics.
He is celebrated for inventing "composite photography," a darkroom technique that combines multiple negatives to create ethereal, landscape-like images reminiscent of ink wash paintings. Long was also the first Chinese photographer to take artistic nude shots. His career spanned over eight decades until his death at age 102 in Taipei, leaving a profound impact on Chinese art photography.
