Jed Devine (1944–2024) was an American photographer, a Guggenheim Fellow and a master of platinum. Born in Mount Kisco, NY he earned a BA and MFA from Yale University, where he captained the baseball team. Initially a painter, he shifted to photography in 1972 and became globally renowned for his work in platinum-palladium prints. Devine taught at SUNY Purchase, received a 1986 Guggenheim Fellowship, and exhibited widely, with pieces in collections globally and in major museums like the Met, LACMA and MoMA. He lived in Tribeca and Martha’s Vineyard, where he died, aged 80, in 2024.
